In this hands-on role, you’ll design and deliver distributed, event-driven systems using C#, .NET Core, and Azure microservices, driving technical excellence across a complex, high-performance environment. As a senior member of the team, you’ll take ownership of key system components, influence architectural direction, and play a central role in solving deep technical challenges, all while collaborating closely with other engineers, architects, and product stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Ownership & Architecture
- Take full ownership of major platform components and their lifecycle — from design and development to deployment and optimisation.
- Contribute to architectural design and technical direction, guiding the evolution of a modern, cloud-native, microservices-based system.
- Balance hands-on development with strategic thinking around scalability, fault tolerance, and performance.
- Review and refine code across the team, driving high standards and maintainable design.
Engineering Excellence & Delivery
- Lead the design and implementation of distributed, asynchronous systems built with Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or similar messaging platforms.
- Champion best practices across CI/CD, testing, observability, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Optimise application performance, resilience, and reliability in production environments.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, automation, and tooling.
Problem Solving & Innovation
- Act as a go-to technical expert for complex issues, debugging deep system problems and identifying long-term solutions.
- Research, evaluate, and propose new tools or technologies that improve scalability and developer productivity.
- Contribute to the technical roadmap, aligning engineering evolution with business and product objectives.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work closely with Product, Architecture, and Platform teams to define requirements, scope, and technical outcomes.
- Provide informal mentorship to engineers, supporting knowledge-sharing and technical growth within the team.
- Communicate clearly across teams, simplifying complex ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record building and optimising production-grade systems in C# and .NET Core.
- Strong experience designing and implementing Azure microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, messaging infrastructures (e.g. Service Bus, Kafka), and API design.
- Proficiency with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, IaC, observability, and automated testing.
- Demonstrated ability to take technical ownership and make architectural contributions without formal management responsibilities.
- Solid problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to system improvement and technical debt reduction.
- Experience within FinTech, financial services, or other high-transaction, data-intensive environments is a strong advantage.
